PHONES RUN HOT: Tickets for the Daft Punk album launch aren’t on sale until Friday, but the phones at The Crossing Theatre are running hot with inquiries from across Australia and the world. Customer service staff Aimee Holland and Dos Briggs are fielding calls every minute.||
Fans of Daft Punk have been left in shock after it was announced the Grammy Award-winning duo would hold its official album launch party in Wee Waa on May 17 as part of the 79th annual Wee Waa Show.
The French pair, who have had hits such as ‘Around the World’ and One More Time’ will release the album ‘Random Access Memories’ at 12.01am in Australia on May 17, with the official album launch party to be held at the Wee Waa Show at 8pm.
Tens of thousands of people from 77 countries have logged on to The Courier’s website since the story broke in Tuesday’s newspaper.
Tickets go on sale at The Crossing Theatre from 9am tomorrow.
Most residents across Narrabri Shire still can’t believe a band as famous as Daft Punk has chosen to launch its highly-anticipated new album in Wee Waa.
The news has become the hot talking point among locals, after The Courier was first to break the world-exclusive story on Tuesday.
Media outlets across Australia and throughout the world have since begun reporting the news, with thousands of people across the globe initially believing it was a late April fool’s joke.
Tickets are set to be in hot demand not only from around the country but around the world, with one of the band’s fans in the United States already booking flights to attend.
The tickets go on sale at The Crossing Theatre tomorrow at 9am and are sure to be snapped up quickly.

Plenty of planning
Planning for the Daft Punk album launch at the Wee Waa Show is in full swing.
Wee Waa Show and Shire council personnel held the first of what will be regular meetings yesterday to discuss the myriad issues to be dealt with to welcome an expected influx of thousands of visitors to wee Waa and the shire in May.
“There is plenty to plan,” said The Crossing Theatre manager Trent Bruinsma.
Trent is an interface with the Sony Music organisers of the event.
“I have so far booked 100 rooms for Sony and media visitors,” said Trent.
“We will need all we can get. We are looking at lots of options, from camping to home stay.
“Wee Waa Show president Brett Dickinson and the mayor Conrad Bolton are receiving continual enquiries about all aspects of the big event,” added Trent, before taking a call from a Sydney  Daily Telegraph journalist.
Brett Dickinson said he was receiving offers ranging  from video filming, to bands asking to be part of the big event.
He has also been conducting media interviews including with Sydney’s Triple J radio station.
“And not to forget Wee Waa Show is the host,” he added.

Ticket tsunami at Crossing Theatre
Crossing Theatre manager Bruinsma and his team are looking forward to Friday morning with anticipation, excitement, and a little trepidation.
Friday is DP Day.
Tickets  for the new Daft Punk album global launch will officially go on sale at 9am and that’s when the Daft Punk tsunami will hit.
Trent has  already been deluged with enquiries and the torrent is increasing.
“This has been enormous,” he told The Courier between calls.
“We expect a flood of ticket buyers from just about everywhere, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
“People have asked if they can  camp outside the night before and wait for the doors to open.”
Trent and his team will be ready.
“Tickets will go on sale at The Crossing Theatre box office, over the phone and on line from 9am Friday morning,” he said.
“We are calling in extra staff because we won’t be able to  handle the load.
“The phones have been  running hot since the story broke in The Courier and the Wee Waa News on Tuesday.
“We are getting four or five phone calls at a time coming in from everywhere.
“I got 80 emails in ten minutes at one stage,” said Trent.
“I had a call from a person in the US who has already booked his air ticket to Australia and is anxious to make sure he is OK for Daft Punk launch tickets.
“My mobile is going crazy with media calls from across the country.”
There is no limit to the number of tickets per person, but there is a limit to the number of tickets available, Trent added.
“Thousands will want to be part of the Wee Waa event.”
Unfortunately, those who are part of The Crossing Theatre’s Membership Privilege Club will not have access to pre-sale tickets.
Usually members can access tickets before they go on general public sale, but because it’s a Wee Waa Show Society event, and not a Crossing Theatre event, all tickets will go on sale at the same time of 9am Friday.
“This is a huge event, the biggest international event  I have dealt with in my career,” said Trent.
“Pulling the Wee Waa function together from our end in organisational terms is one thing which is fairly procedural, but put into perspective as to what it means for the area it is a different kettle of fish.
“In Melbourne and Sydney an event featuring an international launch is a fairly regular occurrence, but the impact on a small community like ours is huge.”
