At least 5000 people will descend on Narrabri’s Collins Park next month when Keith Urban performs as part of his national tour.
Preparations are well underway for the Light the Fuse tour, which will be in Narrabri on Friday, June 27.
And contrary to some rumours, there are still plenty of tickets available for purchase.
“While most of Keith’s other shows in the cities are sold out, we still have the capacity to sell a lot more,” said Trent Bruinsma, manager at The Crossing Theatre which is coordinating the event in Narrabri.
“We have sold 5199 tickets and we can sell a maximum of 11,000.”
The event will be the largest ever held in Narrabri, with fans travelling from across the country to watch the Narrabri show.
Despite the tour including stops in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth, some fans in the city areas have opted to instead travel to Narrabri for the country performance.
Mr Bruinsma is calling on Narrabri Shire residents who haven’t bought tickets to secure theirs now.
“Narrabri Shire Council and The Crossing Theatre have worked hard to secure this event and we look forward to plenty of support from local residents and beyond to ensure that these events can occur in the shire regularly,” he said.
“The long range weather forecast indicates little to no chance of rain around the event date which almost guarantees a great atmosphere for the Keith Urban concert.”
Narrabri residents have bought 1296 tickets, Wee Waa 200, Burren Junction 44 and Maules Creek 39.
Organisers are hoping for a lift in ticket sales for the ‘country music capital’, with only 175 sold in Tamworth so far.
“We’re also hoping for more of a response from Bingara, Coonabarabran, Gilgandra and Quirindi, given the proximity of those towns to Narrabri,” said Mr Bruinsma.
“The start time of 7.30pm was made deliberately to allow residents of neighbouring shires to make the event even with the distances required to travel.”
A total of 3114 tickets have been sold across the New England/North West region, with 294 tickets sold in the Western Plains region, 387 in the Hunter, 124 in the Central West and 115 on the Mid North
Coast.
Almost 200 Sydneysiders have snapped up tickets, with other people logging on to the Ticketek website from a range of locations across the country including Hobart, Perth, Rockhampton, Ipswich, Melbourne, Bendigo and Perth.
According to data from Ticketek, the most popular day for ticket purchases has been Tuesday, with most logging on between midday and 1pm.
“I encourage everyone who is
interested in attending this wonderful event to purchase their tickets now, before it’s too late,” said Mr
Bruinsma.
