Collins Park is being transformed into a major concert arena in preparation for Friday’s huge Keith Urban concert.
Excitement is building as Narrabri prepares to welcome the international star and thousands of visitors to town.
Narrabri has scored a coup in securing the concert which will see almost 6000 fans pack the town’s iconic oval.
Already hundreds of visitors are streaming into Narrabri. Accommodation has been booked solid, according to the Narrabri Visitor Information Centre which reports a steady flow of visitors seeking information about the concert and district attractions.
A ‘tent city’ for campers has been set up at Narrabri showground.
Narrabri businesses are meeting visitors and looking forward to a busy few days. The big influx will come tomorrow and the gates will open for the concert at 5.30, which is set to start at 7.30.
Keith Urban will arrive on Friday, but tour organisers are tight lipped about his schedule.
For Urban fans, Friday can’t come quickly enough.
“We can’t wait,” a Queensland couple said. We have been Keith Urban fans since his early days. To have Keith perform here is a fantastic opportunity for us to see him.”
Narrabri is firmly front of mind for Urban fans around Australia - his Narrabri gig is included in a tour which otherwise only includes Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Townsville and Perth.
Meanwhile, the huge stage has gone up at Collins Park, sound and lighting equipment is being erected and seating will be completed on Friday.
“We want everyone to have a great time” said The Crossing Theatre manager Trent Bruinsma. “People are reminded that drinks and food is not allowed to be brought in to the venue, or chairs. Food and drink will be available at the venue.”
