The Keith Urban concert in Narrabri on June 27 was recognised as a coup by envious Urban fans in other cities.
Narrabri Shire council was presented with the opportunity for a Keith Urban concert in Narrabri, and be part of a national tour which otherwise embraced major cities - and ‘after several discussions’ voted to take the plunge. It was a move applauded and endorsed by 6000 fans who braved a cold night in Collins Park for the event.
The Narrabri concert attracted national interest.
A Narrabri resident just back from the Gold Coast said people had demanded to know how the concert had come about.
“I have another friend in Mackay and she said it was ‘the talk of Mackay’”, she said. “Same thing on the Gold Coast.
“‘How come Keith Urban is going to Narrabri?’ people asked me.
“I just said it’s because it’s a great town and going ahead - we can attract the big stars because we are a central town in the greatest shire in Australia. We just get the top talent. Simple.”
