Narrabri artists are developing their skills under the tutelage of Graeme Compton.
Graeme Compton has finished his June drawing classes at Narrabri Community College.
“Being an adult and learning how to draw – or extending your knowledge and skills - is a truly enjoyable experience,” he says.
His adult drawing class was a great experience for many keen artists. “The students who attended during the June classes were a diverse and highly talented group. A number of people returned who had already attended previous classes, held earlier this year and at the end of 2013, and were enthusiastic about developing their skills,” Graeme said.
The June sessions centred on how to draw the human figure. Ever popular Ashtine Summers modelled for all four sessions, alongside Yorick the Skeleton.
“Drawing can be a challenging creative experience, and at the same time a meditative experience. In dealing with a live model, we faced the challenges of translating human anatomy, along with perspective, composition and - the really fun bit! - interpretation in the form of cartoons.
“I hope to help my students develop their talents to the point where they are comfortable to take on any project they wish,” said Graeme.
