Narrabri West Development Inc. has a number of projects underway and added another to the list on Friday.
Volunteer members Tom Scilley, Frank Hill and John Tough took their shovel, donated by McKechnies Hardware, and four trees, donated by Mitre 10 nursery, and joined Kogil street Pre-schoolers in planting the trees in front of the pre school.
The pre-schoolers found the exercise an interesting one and it was an opportunity to involve them in environmental issues.
The pre-schoolers and their helpers planted claret ash, flowering ash and ornamental pear trees.
“We have been looking at ways we can improve and extend our environmental sustainability projects,” said supervisor Dianne Foster.
“We have a few projects in the wind at the moment, with the help of parents and friends of the pre school, with donations of labour and recyclables such as an old sink, tyres, plants and so on.
“Planting trees along the footpath was one of the projects - and we thank the West Development team for helping make it happen.”
