Car rental companies operating out of a transportable building adjacent to Narrabri airport terminal are ‘taking issue with payment of fees for provision of a dedicated counter for their business’, council has been told.
“Some companies are showing reluctance to pay in the absence of regular public transport flights” a staff report tabled at Tuesday’s Narrabri Shire Council meeting said.
“Prior to Council providing the transportable building, hire car operators were conducting their business on the seating in and outside the terminal building as well as on the bonnet of the car that was being rented.
“Agreements for hire car companies are to be developed to formalise the conditions of use, hire and reserve use of counter space.
“If companies take the short term view to avoid costs during the absence of regular public transport, this may restrict their access in the future should other operators take up the opportunity to reserve the counter space” the report suggested.
