“It all happened so quickly” said Stacy McInnes, reliving Monday morning’s fire which destroyed her Boundary street home.
“You couldn’t light a fire in a fireplace as fast as the house went up.”
Stacy and Luke were asleep when they heard a ‘bang’ from the lounge room.
That was the start of the fire.
Stacy is expecting a baby and was due to go to hospital on Friday.
“So I had my hospital bag packed, fortunately near the front door” she said.
“Luke dashed back inside and grabbed it.”
Stacy said the fire had taken everything.
“You don’t realise what you use every day” she said.
“We have lost things ranging from crockery, to glasses, cooking ware, right through to toothbrushes and phone chargers.
“All our personal items are gone, including an engagement ring, our childhood memorabilia, little Lachlan’s paintings and toys.”
Stacy said she and Luke had been overwhelmed by people’s support and concern.
“And my sister Amanda has been fantastic.
“I don’t know how we would have got on without her” said Stacy.
