The mayor Cr Conrad Bolton remains confident that Narrabri is on track for the resumption of a regular air service.
Virgin Australia is now carrying out a survey of potential usage of the airline, following a visit by Virgin executives for a meeting with the council and business and community members several weeks ago.
Virgin is filling in the detail of what they seek in their market research, Cr Bolton said.
“But it is getting closer” said Cr Bolton.
“It is hard to put a time frame on the final result, but Virgin are in the middle of their research and doing the final details on their business case.
“We are confident and certainly once they finalise their business case we will be having further discussions before they make a decision.
“It is a slow process, but council is confident that there is a compelling business case for the service to operate.”
