An internationally renowned Indian yoga guru has chosen two Narrabri yoga instructors to instruct across Australia on his behalf.
Swami Ramdevji has travelled to 177 countries teaching his yoga and has more than 10 million followers.
He recently travelled to Australia for the first time and held a yoga science workshop in Sydney which was attended by over a thousand people, including Narrabri yoga instructors Karla and Jaspreet.
“After four days he came to Karla and myself, because we were doing so well he asked about our training and education, and he later selected us to teach Australians his yoga process,” Jaspreet explained.
“The yoga courses he developed are designed for people who may be struggling with stress, anxiety, or family issues, so we can help them spiritually and with their mental health.”
The pair will continue to work in Narrabri but will also travel widely as representatives of Swami Ramdevji.
“It’s about making Australia stronger and healthier both physically and mentally,” he said.
“You need to learn the skills to deal with the issues, that’s how yoga works, it’s conditioning the mind to fight these issues instead fo feeling defeated.”
Jaspreet describes meditation simply as learning how to make the mind quieter and change negative self talk into positive thoughts, rather than just holding certain poses.
He will be conducting a free yoga class ‘come and try’ session on Sunday morning of Relay for Life.
