ABOVE: Great weather and the picturesque scenery of Maules Creek provided the backdrop for the third annual Up The Creek campdraft on the weekend. The event drew competitors and spectators from across the region for two days of campdraft action, camp oven cooking and refreshments under the stars at day’s end. The annual Maules Creek Campdraft, ‘Up The Creek’ is also the opportunity for Fairfax School P and C to hold its major fundraiser.
“We were delighted with the success of the day” said P and C president Renee Murphy.
“This was our third event, our biggest annual fundraising function.
“We haven’t finalised the figures yet, but we are very happy with the success of the weekend.
“We thank everyone who helped, with many generous donations from Narrabri and Gunnedah communities” added Renee.
“We ran the breakfast and lunch barbecues, helped by parents and other community members, who gave up their time on the Easter weekend.”
The funds raised will go towards general school amenities for the pupils Renee said.
“The money will help for library books, any excursions, and other items.
‘And now we have done this for three years we are going to look at improvements for the school. We may look at improving the kitchen. Now we have some funds we can look at something really worthwhile.”
Fairfax School this year has 13 pupils enrolled, up from eight last year.
“We have two from the principal and three new kindergarten enrolments.”
