Collins Park spectators will soon have more places to sit thanks to a donation from Santos.
This morning, Santos Energy NSW general manager Mr Peter Mitchley presented a cheque for $20,000 to the Collins Park Lights committee to fund new elevated  seating.
A delighted committee chairman Ian Duffey said the contribution will further add to the improvement of spectator facilities at the iconic oval.
“This is a generous contribution to the community from Santos,” Mr Duffey said. “The shire council design section has drawn up plans for the new seating and we hope to have it manufactured and installed as soon as possible.”
“We are now seeking community involvement, from clubs or organisations who can help with the welding of the seats.
“This addition to Narrabri’s premier sporting oval is a great plus for the community.
“We are planning the location of the banks of seats. They will be on the east side of the oval, probably towards the goal posts.
“They will be banks for three tiers and will occupy a footprint of about 3.5 metres deep.
“The additional seating, plus the other improvements, and of course the floodlighting of the oval, take us further along the track of creating the region’s premier sporting venue at Narrabri.”
