There was fun to be had at St Francis Xavier’s Primary School last week as families joined students for Easter celebrations.
The Kindergarten classroom was bustling with energy on Wednesday as children made paper chains and Easter baskets.
Parents with preschoolers looking to enrol were invited, filling the room with dozens of happy boys and girls.
Grandparents and parents of this year’s Kindergarten class also came and joined in the craft.
Kindergarten teacher Karen Brooks and education assistant Donna Wheeler organised the activities and made sure the baskets were filled with chocolate Easter eggs to take home.
Principal Katie Hanes was thrilled with the attendance.
“Our enrolment period commenced in Catholic Schools Week and we have been receiving enquiries on a daily basis since then,” she said.
“The large crowd present today indicates great confidence in the school as a provider of high quality education within the Catholic tradition,” Mrs Hanes also added.
“Mrs Brooks and Mrs Wheeler work brilliantly as a team and are to be commended on their hard work in preparing for today’s session.”
A sausage sizzle lunch followed the craft session.
Students also showed off their handiwork during an Easter hat parade on Friday.
The children’s hand-made Easter bonnets were judged and nine winners were chosen across the infant and primary levels.
An Easter raffle added to the excitement, as students anxiously waited for their name to be drawn so they could claim their chocolate
eggs.
