Staff at Narrabri’s CAMstart pharmacy got together last Friday and Saturday to support World No Tobacco Day, which is celebrated annually on May 31.
CAMstart Narrabri got behind World No Tobacco Day to bring awareness to the community about quitting smoking.
Available at the pharmacy on Friday, May 30, and Saturday, May 31, were ‘quitting packs’ with information leaflets from various companies.
Also available were balloons to test lung capacity and drinking straws so the public could experience a demonstration of the breathing difficulties that may arise from smoking cigarettes.
When asked how important it is to make people aware that smoking is dangerous, Nicole Smith said “It’s very important, I don’t think they realise what it’s doing to them,”.
Nicole explained that there are a lot of chemicals included in cigarettes that smokers may be unaware of.
“We can all help community members on their quit journey,” she adds.
There are brochures available at CAMstart Narrabri which include information on how to quit smoking.
