Young and old are taking to the water for fun and fitness at Narrabri Aquatic Centre.
“We are promoting healthy lifestyles for body and soul and many are jumping in to join us” said Aquatic Centre manager Simone Kerr.
The Aquatic Centre has become much more than a popular all year round swim centre offering heated and outdoor pools and a special children’s pool.
“The Centre is very much a community hub” said Simone.
“And we want to make it even more of a hub.
“We are encouraging everyone to join us and have a big range of activities to appeal to people of all ages in and out of the water.”
“We are getting busier all the time.”
Simone has launched tiny tots’ dance and movement classes, with dance instructor Donna Bower putting the kids through their paces.
Donna  teaches  them basic dance and movement in classes once a week.
There are also dance, and aqua fitness, classes  for the over 50s.
The tiny tots and other out of the water activities take place in the large air conditioned room adjacent to the pool.
“It’s all about promoting a healthy mind and body for kids, teens and adults” says Simone. “And having fun.”
Yoga classes have started and African drumming will start on June 3, as advertised.
Simone is planning to broaden the range of activities into drawing for kids, a book club, perhaps iridology and other alternative health fields.
Any further suggestions are welcome, adds Simone.
“The Aquatic Centre is for the community and we want everyone to come along.”
