Narrabri Rotary Club was the designated organisation to benefit from fundraising at Saturday’s Wean Picnic Races and has collected about $3000.
The funds will all go towards Rotary projects. Twenty Narrabri Rotarians, joined by Boggabri Rotarians undertook various tasks to ensure the race day went smoothly.
A major local project which will receive funds will be the exercise circuit being built  by Rotary at the Narrabri lake.
Wean Picnic Races committee president Mr Les Alker said the organisers were delighted with the success of the day which saw a crowd of 2,700  come through the gates.
“On behalf of the committee, I would like to thank everyone who attended our race day” he said.
“It was a magnificent day, with good racing fields, a mass of family picnics, and the whole course was saturated with a wonderful friendly atmosphere. I would particularly like to thank the many people who went to such lengths to dress up in 1914 period costume.”
