One local lady was particularly saddened at the recent retirement of Narrabri’s Dr Andrew Paas.
Evelyn Smith had been receiving care from Dr Paas since 1974 and Evelyn’s daughter-in-law, Karen Smith, says the two share a mutual trust.
“It’s pretty special,” she adds.
Karen explained that Evelyn was happy to visit Dr Paas as he listened and talked to her, and was a huge support when her husband Doug Smith, who was also a patient of Dr Paas, passed away.
Evelyn, who was born and raised in Maules Creek, moved to Narrabri in her early twenties where she married Doug and had two boys, Larry and Greg Smith.
Karen said Evelyn was upset to learn of her doctor’s retirement, but she realised that time marches on.
“I know she would like to wish him well, she would like to thank him for always being available and she would like to wish him a long and happy retirement with his wife Janet and his family”.
