Ali Leitch, Sally Hunter, Sally Knight and Lynda George are organising the 2014 Australian Cotton Industry Awards.||
A local funding business, FundBase, won the tender to organise the 2014 Australian Cotton Industry Awards.
FundBase, run by Sally Hunter, helps individuals, groups and businesses with funding needs.
Mrs Hunter was joined by Sally Knight and Lynda George to plan the Cotton Industry Awards ceremony and dinner.
Mrs Hunter says she is pleased that the job of organising the event has come to a rural area and that the ladies are keen to take to the occasion with a fresh approach.
Assisting the three women is graphic designer Ali Leitch, the daughter of Peter and Margot Leitch.
This will be the 11th cotton awards event and Mrs Hunter is “keen to introduce some new ideas.”
“It’s a fantastic experience for us really because we get to see all the
cotton growers and new innovations,” she says.
Eight hundred guests are expected at the August 7  awards dinner at the Gold Coast cotton conference on August 7.
The ladies also hope to recognise those who have left the industry.
“We are calling for anyone who has passed away or retired from the cotton industry in the last 12 months to be included on a roll of honour,” Mrs Hunter said.
