It is reassuring for Narrabri Shire residents to know that emergency medical evacuation to major hospitals is available day and night, thanks to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
The chopper ranges far and wide across the district, landing on remote roads and properties and at hospital helipads to quickly take seriously ill patients to Tamworth Base Hospital for treatment.
The Tamworth based helicopter keeps flying largely due to community fund raising.
Recently, north west accounting firm C and W Financial Services’ staff, who gathered for a gala end of financial year dinner at Wee Waa golf club, decided to make their contribution to the chopper service.
"Partners and staff from the Wee Waa, Narrabri and Moree offices chipped in to raise $1000 for the rescue helicopter," said accountant Emily McGowan.
The regular meeting of the Narrabri volunteer support group for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service was delighted to accept a $1000 donation from north western accounting firm C and W Financial Services at the support group’s regular meeting last week.
The rescue service relies on community support.
"This was a fantastic donation from the company's Wee Waa, Narrabri,  and Moree staff," said Narrabri support group president Allan Goode.
