Top Honours: Peter Westhorpe and Lyn Sing presented Faber Sheetmetal proprietor Robyn Faber with the major prize, the Business of the Year 2013 award, at the Narrabri NBN BEST Business Awards on Saturday night.||
Faber Sheetmetal took out the top accolade at the Narrabri NBN BEST Business Awards on Saturday night, recognising the company’s 30 year commitment to growth, innovation and employment.
Proprietor Robyn Faber collected the trophy, along with another award for Innovation in Business.
“I was overwhelmed and delighted because it was totally unexpected, we didn’t nominate ourselves at all,” Robyn Faber said.
“That’s really thrilling, to know that the community and other businesses think enough of us to vote us Business of the Year.”
The company has had a proud history, employing more than 500 people and training more than 90 apprentices and trainees. It currently employs 25.
Narrabri Chamber of Commerce president Richard Orr said guest numbers were down, but award entries were up.
About 290 people attended, including Member for Barwon Kevin Humphries and Member for Parkes Mark Coulton.
Mr Orr said performances by Karar School of Dance enhanced the event and praised MC Tim Coates.
The guest speaker, Tamworth-based NSW Business Chamber business development executive Derek Tink, discussed the digital age. He encouraged businesses to enter the burgeoning online world and suggested a range of digital strategies to get started.
His speech resonated with local business owners, many of whom have been frustrated by the impact of online shopping on their companies, and who are daunted by the potential the digital world offers.
